The chain of Belledonne is full of roads in balconies which, at the turning of a bend, reserve superb panoramas. Its peaks, authentic forests and villages with typical architecture promise an unforgettable stay. The two thermal spas of Uriage and Allevard allow to recharge oneself after the effort. A complete tourist offer thanks to accommodation suitable for everyone.
The Belledonne massif is strongly influenced by the economic, social and cultural characteristics of the cities of Grenobloise and Chambérienne, that have changed in just a couple of years the way people see living in the mountains. The economic activities are focused on the areas of activity of Gresivaudan, but also in the tourist resorts in these mountains. The greater mobility of persons that are travelling or moving to the mountain areas, are increasing land pressure. In the horizon, the master plan for the region Grenoble wants to develop urbanization, by building housing units by the municipalities of EspaceBelledonne. These major transformations are very usefull, but they also produce a rapid change of the landscapes: people are abandoning the agricultural land for the benefit of residential urbanization, the lack of forest plantations, the transformation of the villages, gardens planted with non-local species …
The municipalities of the EspaceBelledonne bring together beautiful landscapes with their own an unique identity. The relief not only determined the great distributions between forests, meadows and alpine pastures, but it also conditioned the history and distribution of the villages on the massif. The location and shape of the habitat in Belledonne corresponds to these territorial logics. In general, the villages have been established and developed linearly along contour lines and along roads to benefit from the best exhibitions. In the same way, the habitat has been grouped in villages to preserve as much as possible the agricultural space. Traditional habitats form a real art of inhabiting the mountain and models of adaptation to the diversity of the sites on witch they are built. The recent development of urbanization shows the flagrant signs of breaking of this local culture in disregard of the fundamental values of the landscapes and alerts us to the long-term consequences of the loss of meaning.
Our lifestyles are changing, architecture is also changing. Benefit from technical progress we must create spaces that allow us to live closer to the landscape and nature, while preserving them.
The use of environmentally friendly materials and renewable energies will develop a healthy and more economical habitat, while contributing to the fight against the greenhouse effect. An approach of bioclimatic architecture makes it possible to correct inconveniences and exploatations of each place.
Good thermal instalation of the building is essential, since the least polluting energy is that which one does not consume.
